About

David Tyler is Kahoodol and Kahoodol is David. Kahoodol is my Side Hustle in a Side Hustle School way. My day job is as a Senior Internal Audit Manager for a well know UK financial institution but for more that ten years Kahoodol has been my passion. I am not sure that auditing could ever be anyone’s passion??!! It has supported my development as a person, father, and now grandfather as well as spawning offshoot ideas including Kahoodol Leather  & Kahoodol Barbecue. I am originally from London but moved to Bristol 22 years ago and I expect this to continue to be my long term home.

So how did Kahoodol come about? In about 2008 my eldest son (14 at the time) and I were talking about business and how to create a brand that could be used to set up multiple (semi related) ideas and entity. We had been talking about “Virgin” and Richard Branson. We also fancied a web address so that we could have our own personal email addresses ***@kahoodol.co.uk. So we started making up names, yes just making the stuff up and I think it was about day three we came up with Kahoodol. Why not completely made up and everything was born. We spent some time trying to decide what Kahoodol should mean, what would it stand for, how might we use it (other than having our personal emails of cause). The meaning became clear and whatever we have used the name for the basic definition: Noun: A philosophy to promote irregular, unusual or “Out of the Box” ideas to simplify or open up new ways. Verb: Acting with or operating in small groups to instigate surprise or positive, unexpected outcomes remained as true for me today as it did all those years ago.

In the Kahoodol story we set out the philosophy in more detail. This section provides link to blog posts about declustering, simplicity, quality over quantity, an understanding of your own motivations, flow, joy and happiness.   It also introduces why my Leatherwork and Barbeque projects are “Kahoodol” and how you can find your own Kahoodol projects.
